One of the most popular American vocalists of her generation. She sang with a simple unforced crooning style which reflected her radiant personality. Brought up in Nashville, she guested on the local WSM Radio whilst still a sociology student at Vanderbilt university. She became a household name in America following her million selling Yes, My Darling Daughter and by 1942 she had her own radio show which launched another million seller Blues In The Night. Dinah Shore will be remembered for her great singing talent but also as a personable and well-mannered TV chat-show hostess from the early 50s until 1991. Her TV shows won here ten Emmy Awards and she died in 1994 aged 77.
